U.S. Border Patrol agents arrest Cuban national previously convicted of sexual assault of a child
DEL RIO, Texas – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector arrested a Cuban man previously convicted for sexual assault of a child.
On Aug. 19, agents assigned to the Eagle Pass Station, apprehended a group of four men who had entered the United States illegally. One of the individuals was later identified as Alexis Suarez-Trejos, 52, an illegal alien from Cuba.
Record checks revealed Suarez-Trejos was convicted in 2001 in Nevada for sexual assault of a child under 14. He was sentenced to 40 months incarceration and placed on the Nevada sex offender registry. Suarez-Trejos was most recently removed from the United States on Oct. 22, 2025.
As a convicted felon, Suarez-Trejos faces a charge of 8 USC § 1326 - reentry after deportation, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in prison.
